As a kid I always remember being into videogames. The idea of exploring different worlds and fighting evil is any kids dream. Which is why Ratchet and Clank was so appealing back then and still is now!

The new trailer shows some chaotic gameplay and crazy new weapons.

We also get a good look at the new lombax character, Rivet.

A female lombax who seems to live in a dimension where nefarious has taken over and goes by the title “Emperor Nefarious”.

The trailer opens with the classic evil robot Nefarious stealing what seems to be a multi-dimensional gun.

Which he’s using to find a dimension to rule over.

We then see snippets of a few dimensions we will get to travel too.

Sticking to the classic styles of a futuristic neon city, some sort of space city, forest world and post apocalyptic wasteland.

But why is this exciting?

Well, this means that Insomniac is sticking to what they know, using a truly tested formula of what makes us, the players, happy!

This also applies to the goofy humour which goes hand in hand with the ratchet and clank games!

One thing that looks vastly different is the scale of the game.

Huge worlds in ground breaking graphics which seem to be full of life!

Some of that life being enormous enemies that could crush poor ratchet under their feet!

It has also been confirmed that the dimensions will be traversable with no loading screen, utilising the power of the PS5.

The trailer is made of a mix of cinematics and gameplay running on the PS5, showing off the insance capabilities of the next gen console.

While the game seems to stay true to the original, it looks as though it will be pushing the boundaries and creating an all new Ratchet and Clank experience!

Another reason to be excited for this, is another lombax!

While Ratchet will always be the original, I can’t wait to experience the world through a different set of eyes.

It’s also nice to see a female lombax with a prosthetic arm, broader representation will never be a bad thing!

The traversal of dimensions means an infinite amount of characters, worlds, weapons and enemies for Insomniac to invent!

Finally, the main reason I am excited for the game, is purely that I trust Insomniac.

It couldn’t be more clear that they love the Ratchet and Clank just as much as most of us do, and will make sure the game is everything we hope it will be!

Insomniac have shown time and time again that they can create dynamic and exciting stories, so roll on this one!

The game is set to release on June 11th 2021 on the PlayStation 5 and is available for pre-order now.
